Set up mySparkrock authentication for Sparkrock Impact
OAuth is the industry-standard protocol for authorization, providing specific authorization flows for web applications and more. To establish the OAuth connection between Sparkrock Impact and mySparkrock, some setup is required.
Create mySparkrock applications in Microsoft Entra Applications
On the Microsoft Entra Applications page, create the mySparkrock applications.

To complete all steps in this task, you must be a Microsoft Entra ID administrator.
To create mySparkrock applications in Microsoft Entra Applications
Select Search (Alt+Q)
, enter microsoft entra applications, and then choose the related link.The Microsoft Entra Applications page opens.
On the action bar, select Create mySparkrock Applications.
Multiple dialog boxes appear for each mySparkrock application.
For example:
A user named mySparkrock alpha will be created. Do you want to continue?
For each mySparkrock application, select Yes.
Sparkrock Impact performs the following actions:
- Adds rows for the following mySparkrock applications:
- MYSPARKROCK
- MYSPARKROCK ALPHA
- MYSPARKROCK BETA
- MYSPARKROCK GAMMA
- MYSPARKROCK DELTA
- MYSPARKROCK EPSILON
- Creates a mySparkrock user record for each application for all externally available companies
- Creates a mySparkrock user setup record for each application for all externally available companies
- Assigns to each application the following financial analysis permission sets:
- SPKFA ANALYSIS, EDIT
- SPKFA ANALYSIS, VIEW
- SPKFA DATA SET, EDIT
- SPKFA DATA SET, VIEW
- Adds rows for the following mySparkrock applications:
For each mySparkrock application, to update the setup, grant consent, or both, perform the following steps:
Select the mySparkrock application that you want to update, grant consent for, or both, and then on the action bar, select Manage > Edit.
The Microsoft Entra Application Card page opens.
If required, update the applicable field values.
To grant consent for mySparkrock to access data from Sparkrock Impact, on the action bar, select Grant Consent.
Sign in to Microsoft Entra ID, and then perform the required setup. To learn more, go to Using Service-to-Service (S2S) Authentication.
After you create the mySparkrock applications, the following notification appears on the applicable role centers informing users to contact their administrator to configure or reconfigure their mySparkrock applications:
Please contact your administrator to configure/reconfigure your mySparkrock applications.
The notification appears on the following role centers:
- Accounting Manager
- Accounts Payable Coordinator
- Accounts Receivable Admin
- Finance Department Manager
- HR Department Manager
- Human Resources Manager
- Project and Grant Admin
- Purchasing Agent
- Schedule Administrator
- Security Administrator
Users can dismiss the notification for the current session by selecting X, or select Don't show this again. to prevent the notification from appearing on future sign-ins.
Create a user setup record in payroll setup
For mySparkrock authentication to work correctly for payroll, on the Payroll Setup page, on the Payroll Users Setup FastTab, there must be a record with the User ID of MYSPARKROCK. Permissions can be assigned to the record with the User ID of MYSPARKROCK as required.
To create a record that has a User ID of MYSPARKROCK in payroll setup
Select Search (Alt+Q)
, enter payroll setup, and then choose the related link.The Payroll Setup page opens.
On the Payroll Users Setup FastTab, select Manage > New Line.
A new row appears.
In User ID, specify MYSPARKROCK.
In other fields on the line, specify values as required.
